The Storm Show

Outnumbered is the default.

Long ago a Great Tornado tore pieces from a thousand places and dropped them in one heap. That heap is the world. The storm never really left. Up in its calm Eye sit the Crowd: unseen watchers who live for one thing, a good fight.

The Crowd learned to steer the storm. They throw squalls at the ground: mobs, hordes, hunters, rivals, collapsing floors. There are always more of those than of you, because an even fight is boring. When someone pulls off the impossible (one heart, one block, one versus five), the Crowd roars. That Roar is real force. It pushes the storm back and buys the world a little more calm.

The world

LayerWhat it is
The Storm WallThe Tornado's endless outer wall. Pure squall, chaos that outnumbers everyone.
The EyeThe calm center, high above. The Crowd's seats.
The Debris FieldsThe world the Tornado dropped: The Outlands.
The StagesIslands the Roar lifted into the sky: the lobby, Gauntlet, Rush, Leap and the calm rings.
RoarApplause made physical. It lights trophies and charges crates. It's earned, never bought.
SquallThe storm's leftover fury. Mobs, elites, events, boss adds.

The Hall of Clutches

The Hall is the Highlight Reel, built on the Eye-Stone, the calmest rock in the world. Every light in it is a second the Crowd stood up for. The live boards are those replays. While the Hall glows, the lobby stays in the sky, so the top players are literally holding it up. At the back stands the Empty Plinth, reserved for the First Calm.

Every mode is an act

The Outlands: the backlot

Where contestants live between shows. The Salvage Guild runs the market, Callers read the mood, crates hold sealed Roar, bounties are grudge matches, and Stagehands pull you back at the graveyards. Headliners every two hours. survive first.

1v5 Gauntlet: the main event

One clutcher stands in the calm while five hunters close in. Win and you earn a crown: Roar in gold, sent straight to the Hall.

Yikers Rush: stage collapse

Teams on a stage the storm is taking back. "Yikers" is the noise a stage makes when it starts to give.

Loot or Leap: the prize tower

The Tornado threw its richest debris highest. Climb, rob the vaults, try not to get blown off.

Ranked Duels: the calm rings

The only even fights in the world. The Crowd treats them as sacred. No one to blame. Tiers: extra, walk-on, featured, headliner, showstopper, eye of the storm.

Quests: billings

Daily spots and weekly features from the Hall Keepers, valid on every stage. Parties are troupes, because the Crowd loves an ensemble.

Who's who

The ClutchborneYou. Contestants the storm keeps throwing into the ring, who keep winning anyway.
The CrowdUnseen spectators in the Eye. They don't hate you. They bet on you.
Hall KeepersCue and Marrow, the Crowd's announcers on the ground.
The Salvage GuildThe Promoters: salvage merchants and crate-sealers who sponsor the show.
StagehandsThey pull the fallen back on stage. The show never ends.
The SquallbornStorm-touched who want the Tornado to finish the job and silence the Crowd for good.

Season 1: the Squall Season

The storm wall is pushing in. Squalls are getting thicker, and someone keeps painting black funnels on the Hall's walls. The Keepers need enough Roar to light the Empty Plinth before the Squallking arrives. Every clutch counts.
